New single, a cheating-ass bitch, SZA taunting us, and more

A weekly roundup to catch you up on funny/fun/important shit that Paramore and their fans have been up to.
Here’s what happened in Paramore World this last week
Paramore’s second single for their upcoming album came out on Thursday! Here’s a whole-ass post about it if you want to hear my full thoughts.
They did a lil’ mini-interview with Zane Lowe (who ALWAYS gets my favorite Paramore interviews - he is so nice to them and they love him so much!). It’s 15 minutes and just delightful (see screenshot below). One of my favorite parts was Hayley bragging on Zac (drummer):
“Watching Zac in the live room play drums to this, track to ‘The News,’ I just felt like we were kids again, you know? Like watching him bash out like, ‘Careful’ from Brand New Eyes, or ‘Decode,’ where he really went so hard. But it’s nice also because you can hear all the new little things that he’s picked up along the way, kind of weaving in and out of that aggression. So sick.”
Consequence ranked “This Is Why” their NUMBER ONE song of the year!? NME ranked it #2, and a bunch of other sites put it on their lists as well.
SZA (who came out with a gorgeous new album on Friday) got collab-manifesters in a tizzy with this tweet. It’s a two-way street - Hayley is a vocal SZA fan and has covered her song “Drew Barrymore” and used to end their song “Grow Up” with a snippet of SZA’s “20-Something” (worth skipping to 2:30 on this vid for a peek).
Friday was the two-year anniversary of Hayley’s TinyDesk, which she performed from her house in 2020 (with Julien Baker on backing guitar!!). In case you can’t catch the extra bit she adds at the end of “Dead Horse” in this quote-tweeted clip, it’s “I stuck around and held you down while you fucked around with everyone in town” 👌
