A weekly roundup to catch you up on funny/fun/important shit that Paramore and their fans have been up to.
NPR’s All Songs Considered ranked “This Is Why” their #7 song of 2022!!! I LOVE this ranking because I feel like the NPR-ers historically have been kind of meh toward Paramore. Ann Powers, one of my LITERALLL favorite music writers, said,
“The song somehow breaks through the idea that the world is messed up—and becomes a coping mechanism. And the band has never felt more locked-in…they are just at their peak form, and really ready to take on the world again now that it is generally acknowledged that they are one of the most important bands of the 21st century.”

If you watch one Paramore thing this week, it should be this video from before their last NYC show. (Or either of the two TikToks I mention below.) It’s nothing earth-shattering; it’s just cute and the vibes are great. Special shoutout to Taylor’s Kim Cattrall shirt, the real star of the video.

Hayley re: Jimmy Eat World’s influence on Paramore: “They continue to show us that you can stay in a band with the friends that you grew up with and like, enjoy it and do it the right way. When you’re in this…industry that can be so soul-sucking, sometimes you just kinda need guiding lights to show you that there’s right ways to do it.”

Paramore touring guitarist Brian Robert Jones wrote a song called “Poop Lasagna.” Funny story, before he joined Paramore, I knew him from TikTok because he made one of my favorite TikToks of all time, an original song called “Shit On My Ass.” I have probably watched it a hundred thousand times. It is also on Spotify if you care to enjoy it there.
Avril Lavigne revealed in an interview that Hayley once wrote her a letter thanking her for her influence in music
